After creating an assistant, you can fine-tune every aspect of it from the assistant detail page. Go to Assistants in your dashboard and click on the assistant you want to edit.

The Assistant Detail Page

At the top, you’ll see your assistant’s name (which you can click to edit) and action buttons. Below that is a tab bar for navigating between different configuration sections.

Editing the Assistant Name

Click directly on the assistant name at the top of the page to rename it. Type a new name and press Enter or click away to save.

System Prompt

The system prompt is the set of instructions that tells your AI how to behave. It defines your assistant’s personality, rules, and capabilities.
  • Edit the prompt in the text area
  • A character count is shown below the editor
  • Changes are tracked locally until you click Publish Changes
Note: The system prompt editor is available on the Enterprise plan. On other plans, VozAgent auto-generates and manages the prompt for you based on your wizard settings.

Greeting

The greeting is what your assistant says at the very start of a call.

First Message Mode

Choose how your assistant starts the conversation:
  • Assistant speaks first — The assistant initiates with your custom greeting message
  • Assistant waits for user — The assistant stays silent until the caller speaks
  • Model generated message — The AI generates an appropriate greeting based on context (the text area is disabled in this mode)

First Message

Type the exact greeting you want your assistant to say. For example: “Thanks for calling ABC Plumbing. How can I help you today?”

Tone & Style

Choose the overall personality of your assistant. This affects how it phrases responses throughout the conversation — not just the greeting.

Smart Questions

Smart questions are the questions your assistant asks callers to gather information. There are two categories:

System Questions

These are generated based on your industry and cannot be removed. You can:
  • Toggle them on or off with the switch next to each question
  • See a count of how many are enabled (e.g., “5/8 enabled”)
  • View the question type badge (text, yes/no, etc.)

Custom Questions

Add your own business-specific questions:
  1. Click Add question
  2. Enter the question text in the side panel
  3. Click Add Question to save
Custom questions can be edited or deleted at any time. Hover over a custom question to see the edit and delete buttons.
Tip: Keep the number of enabled questions reasonable. If you have 8 or more enabled, you’ll see a warning that it may increase call duration.

Voice

Choose the voice your assistant uses during calls.

Built-in voices

Select from VozAgent’s library of professional voices:
  1. Click Change Voice to open the voice selection panel
  2. Filter by language (English, Portuguese, Spanish)
  3. Click the play button to preview any voice
  4. Select your preferred voice and click Save Selection
Some premium voices (marked with a “Growth” badge) require a Growth plan or higher. Voices you can’t access will show a lock icon.

Voice Clone (Enterprise)

Enterprise users can create a custom voice clone:
  1. Select Create your voice clone
  2. Review the recording tips (quiet environment, microphone position, natural speaking, 1-3 minute target)
  3. Read the provided script while recording
  4. The system monitors your volume level to ensure quality

Calendar

Configure how appointment booking works for this assistant. This is the same configuration from the creation wizard, and you can update it here at any time.

Testing

Test your assistant without making a real phone call:
  • Test Chat — Have a text conversation with your assistant to check its responses
  • Test Voice Call — Make a test call to hear how your assistant sounds in a real conversation
Both options open in a side panel so you can test without leaving the page.

Publishing Changes

When you make changes to any tab, the Publish Changes button in the top-right becomes active.
  • Changes are tracked locally as you edit across tabs
  • Nothing is saved to your live assistant until you click Publish Changes
  • The button shows “Published” when there are no pending changes
This means you can make multiple edits across different tabs and publish them all at once.

Additional Actions

Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner for more options:
  • Duplicate — Create a copy of this assistant with a new name
  • Download JSON — Export the assistant configuration as a JSON file
  • Delete — Permanently remove the assistant (this cannot be undone)
Note: Duplicate and Delete actions require Admin permissions.
