Opening the Search Panel
- Go to Phone Numbers in the sidebar.
- Click Add Phone Number in the top right corner of the page.
Note: Only admin users can purchase phone numbers. If the button is disabled, ask your organization admin to add the number for you.
Searching for a Number
The search panel has three fields:Number Type
Choose the type of number you want:- Local — A standard local phone number tied to a specific area code. Good for establishing a local presence.
- Mobile — A mobile-style number. Also supports SMS on most numbers.
- Toll-Free — A toll-free number (800, 888, etc.) so customers can call without long-distance charges.
Area Code
Enter a 3-digit area code to narrow your search to a specific region. For example:- 305 for Miami
- 212 for New York
- 415 for San Francisco
Contains Pattern
Enter a sequence of digits to find numbers that contain a specific pattern. For example, searching for 555 will return numbers like (305) 555-1234. This field is optional and can be combined with the area code filter. Once you have set your filters, click Search. The panel will display a list of available numbers.Choosing and Getting a Number
Search results appear in a table with the following information for each number:- Number — The phone number in formatted display
- Capabilities — Badges showing Voice and/or SMS support
- Location — The city and state associated with the number (shown on larger screens)
- Find the number you want and click the Get Number button next to it.
- A Confirm Phone Number dialog will appear, showing the number and a note that it can be used for both inbound and outbound calls.
- Click Confirm to proceed.
After You Get a Number
Once your number is activated, you will see a celebration screen with the message Number Activated! along with your new phone number. The screen also shows a What’s Next? card with three suggested actions:- Assign to Assistant — Connect this number to one of your AI assistants to start handling calls
- Configure Settings — Customize call forwarding, voicemail, and other phone settings
- Test Inbound Calls — Call your new number to verify everything is working correctly
Plan Limits and Add-Ons
Each plan includes a certain number of phone numbers (for example, the Essential plan includes 1 and the Growth plan includes 3). If you have reached your limit, you will see a warning message at the top of the search panel:You’ve reached your limit of [X] phone numbers.You then have two options:
- Add Number (+$5/mo) — Purchase one additional phone number as a monthly add-on. Billed monthly, cancel anytime.
- Upgrade Plan — Go to the billing page to move to a higher tier with more numbers included.
