When you create an assistant in VozAgent, the first thing you’ll choose is the type: Inbound or Outbound. Each is built for a different job, and picking the right one ensures your AI handles calls the way you need.

Inbound Assistants

An inbound assistant answers incoming calls on your behalf. Think of it as your AI receptionist — it picks up the phone, greets the caller, asks the right questions, and takes action.

When to use an inbound assistant

  • You want every call answered, even when you’re busy or after hours
  • You need someone to collect caller information (name, phone, what they need)
  • You want to book appointments directly from phone calls
  • You need to transfer urgent calls to the right team member
  • You run a service business and miss calls during jobs

What it can do

  • Greet callers with a personalized message using your company name
  • Ask smart questions tailored to your industry (e.g., “What type of service do you need?” for an HVAC company)
  • Book appointments by connecting to your calendar (Google Calendar, Calendly, Cal.com, or GoHighLevel)
  • Transfer calls to specific team members when needed
  • Handle emergencies by transferring immediately or notifying you
  • Work after hours by taking messages, informing callers of your hours, or booking the next available slot

Best for

Receptionists, customer service lines, appointment-based businesses, home service companies, medical offices, salons, law firms, and any business that receives phone calls.

Outbound Assistants

An outbound assistant makes calls on your behalf. Instead of waiting for the phone to ring, it proactively reaches out to your contacts with a specific goal.

When to use an outbound assistant

  • You want to follow up with leads who filled out a form or made an inquiry
  • You need to confirm or remind people about upcoming appointments
  • You want to re-engage old leads who went quiet
  • You need to qualify leads before your team spends time on them
  • You want to broadcast an important update to a list of contacts
  • You need to collect information (intake forms, applications) over the phone

What it can do

VozAgent offers seven outbound assistant types, each designed for a specific purpose:
TypeWhat it does
Book AppointmentsCalls contacts and books consultations, estimates, or meetings
Qualify LeadsDetermines whether a lead should move forward based on your criteria
Follow Up on InquiryReaches out to confirm interest or move to the next step
Confirm/Remind AppointmentReduces no-shows by confirming upcoming appointments
Re-Engage Old LeadsReopens conversations with past leads who went cold
Broadcast UpdateDelivers important information reliably to a contact list
Collect InformationGathers structured information like intake forms or applications

Best for

Sales teams, appointment-based businesses running campaigns, businesses with a contact list to work through, and anyone who needs to make calls at scale.

Can I have both?

Yes. Many businesses use both types together. For example, a plumbing company might use:
  • An inbound assistant to answer customer calls 24/7 and book service appointments
  • An outbound assistant to confirm tomorrow’s appointments and reduce no-shows
There’s no limit on mixing types — create as many assistants as your plan allows.
