When you set up your VozAgent account and provide your business website URL, the platform automatically visits your website, extracts the key information, and creates a knowledge item from it. This means your AI assistant can start answering questions about your business right away, even before you manually add any training resources.

How It Works

The automatic website knowledge process happens behind the scenes when you create your first assistant. Here is what VozAgent does:
  1. Checks your business profile — VozAgent looks at the website URL you entered during account setup (in your business profile).
  2. Visits your website — The platform fetches your website’s content, just like a visitor loading the page in a browser.
  3. Extracts key information — VozAgent uses AI to identify and extract the most useful business details from your website content, including:
    • Your business name
    • Services you offer
    • Service areas
    • How your business works
    • FAQs and other common information
  4. Creates a knowledge item — The extracted content is saved as a knowledge item titled “[Your Business Name] Website” and marked as a System item.
  5. Links it to your assistant — The new knowledge item is automatically connected to the assistant being created, so it can reference the information immediately.
This entire process happens in the background when your first assistant is created. You do not need to do anything.

Recognizing Auto-Created Website Knowledge

Auto-created website knowledge items have a few distinguishing features on your Knowledge page:
  • System badge — A lock icon with “System” label appears next to the item, indicating it was created and is managed by VozAgent
  • Website type badge — Shows “Website” to indicate the content came from a URL
  • Title format — Typically named “[Your Business Name] Website”
These system items appear at the top of your knowledge list, making them easy to find.

What Gets Extracted

The AI extraction focuses on the most useful information for a phone assistant. It looks for:
Information typeExamples
Business nameYour company name as shown on the website
Services offeredSpecific services, products, or offerings listed on your site
Service areasCities, regions, or areas you serve
How it worksYour process, booking flow, or how customers engage with you
FAQsCommon questions and answers from your website
Contact detailsPhone numbers, addresses, hours of operation
PoliciesCancellation policies, warranties, guarantees
The extraction is designed to capture practical, factual information — the kind of details callers typically ask about on the phone.
Note: The extraction works best on websites with clear, text-based content. If your website is mostly images, videos, or heavily JavaScript-based, the extraction may capture less information. In that case, you can supplement by adding text content or uploading documents manually.

When Auto-Creation Happens

VozAgent creates the website knowledge item under these conditions:
  • Your business profile has a website URL entered
  • Your organization does not already have a system knowledge item
  • You are creating a new assistant
If your organization already has a system knowledge item (for example, from a previous assistant creation), VozAgent will not create a duplicate. The existing item will be linked to the new assistant instead.

Keeping Website Knowledge Up to Date

Your auto-created website knowledge reflects your website content at the time it was created. If you update your website later, the knowledge item does not update automatically. To refresh it:
  1. Go to Knowledge in your dashboard sidebar
  2. Find the system website item (look for the System badge)
  3. Click the sync button (refresh icon) on the item
The button tooltip reads “Re-scrape website.” VozAgent will visit your website again, extract the latest content, and update the knowledge item. The refresh icon spins while the sync is in progress.
Tip: Make it a habit to click the sync button whenever you make significant changes to your website, like updating your services page, changing your hours, or adding new FAQs.

Business Profile Knowledge

In addition to the website knowledge item, VozAgent may also create a Business KB system item based on your business profile information (company name, address, phone number, hours, etc.). This is a separate item that works alongside the website knowledge. The Business KB item:
  • Does not have a source URL
  • Is generated from the information in your Settings > Business Profile
  • Can be refreshed by clicking its sync button (tooltip: “Sync with business profile”)
  • Should be re-synced after you update your business profile settings
Together, the Website KB and Business KB give your assistant a solid foundation of knowledge about your business.

Limitations

  • Single-page extraction — The automatic process scrapes your main website URL. It does not crawl your entire site or follow links to subpages. If you have important information on other pages, add those URLs manually using Adding Website Content.
  • JavaScript-heavy sites — Websites that rely heavily on JavaScript to render content may not be fully captured. The extraction works best with standard HTML content.
  • Private or gated content — Content behind login pages, paywalls, or password protection cannot be accessed by the extraction process.
  • Content length — Very long websites are trimmed during extraction. The most important content from the top of the page is prioritized.

Cannot Be Viewed, Edited, or Deleted

System knowledge items (including the auto-created website KB) have special restrictions:
  • Content is locked — The content of system items is not viewable. Clicking the view button shows a lock icon with a message instead of the actual content.
  • Cannot be edited directly — You cannot change the title or content. Use the sync button to refresh instead.
  • Cannot be deleted — System items cannot be removed from your knowledge base.
  • Cannot be unlinked — System items are permanently linked to your assistants and cannot be removed from any assistant.
If the auto-created content is inaccurate or incomplete, the best approach is to supplement it with additional knowledge items (text content, website URLs, or documents) that contain the correct information.
