When you create a new assistant in VozAgent, you start by choosing a template. Templates give your assistant a head start — they come pre-configured with smart defaults tailored to a specific use case, so you don’t have to build everything from scratch.

How templates work

To see the available templates, go to Assistants in your dashboard and click Create Assistant. The template selector opens in a full-screen view. VozAgent currently offers two main template types:

Inbound

The Inbound template creates an assistant that answers incoming calls. It’s pre-configured to:
  • Greet callers with your company name
  • Ask relevant questions based on your industry
  • Collect caller information (name, phone number, reason for calling)
  • Book appointments if you connect a calendar
  • Transfer calls to team members when appropriate
  • Handle after-hours calls by taking messages or booking the next available slot
This is the right choice for most businesses — it acts as your AI receptionist.

Outbound

The Outbound template creates an assistant that makes calls on your behalf. It supports multiple call types including booking appointments, qualifying leads, following up on inquiries, confirming appointments, re-engaging old leads, broadcasting updates, and collecting information. Outbound assistants are available on the Growth plan and above.

What a template includes

When you select a template, VozAgent automatically sets up:
  • Assistant name — Based on your company name (for example, “[Your Company] Receptionist”)
  • Voice — A natural-sounding default voice (Elliot)
  • Tone — Friendly by default
  • Greeting — A professional opening message using your company name
  • Questions — Industry-specific smart questions based on your business type and specialization
  • After-hours behavior — Takes a message (or books the next available slot if booking is enabled)
All of these defaults can be changed after creation from the assistant detail page.

Industry specializations

After choosing the Inbound template, VozAgent may ask you to pick a specialization based on your industry. For example, if your business is in Construction & Trades, you might choose from:
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Roofing
  • General Contracting
  • And more
This specialization determines which smart questions your assistant starts with. An HVAC assistant asks about heating and cooling systems, while a plumbing assistant asks about the type of plumbing issue. If your industry only has one specialization, this step is skipped automatically.

Plan limits

Your subscription plan determines how many assistants you can create and which templates you have access to:
  • If you’ve reached your assistant limit, you’ll see a banner at the top of the template selector letting you know. You can upgrade your plan to create more.
  • Outbound templates require the Growth plan or above. If you’re on the Essential plan, the Outbound template will show a lock icon and a prompt to upgrade.

Continuing a draft

If you started creating an assistant but didn’t finish, VozAgent saves your progress as a draft. The next time you open the template selector, you’ll see a banner at the top:
Continue where you left off — You have a draft for “Inbound” (60% complete)
Click Continue Draft to pick up right where you left off, or scroll down to start fresh with a new template.

Tips

  • Pick the template closest to your needs. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s faster to customize an existing template than to configure everything manually.
  • You can always change settings later. The template is just a starting point. Every setting can be adjusted from the assistant detail page after creation.
  • Try inbound first. If you’re new to VozAgent, start with an inbound assistant. It’s the most common use case and gives you a feel for how the platform works.
